Want to reactivate auto report to Apple by command line?

Niel has the solution.  “Run the following command:

ifconfig en0 ether

This will produce output containing ether and then a code following it. Next, run:

defaults write ByHost/com.apple.SubmitDiagInfo.ether AutoSubmit 1

where ether is the code output by the earlier command after removing all colons. The exact name needed can also be found by running ls on the ByHost folder.

Each different Mac has a different name for this file. This only works on the user account it’s run on, and each run only changes the setting when used on a specific Mac.”
